Finishing Meal

For pigs 60kg+ to market. Maximizes lean meat gain, minimizes backfat thickness.

Feeding Program

Stage 1: STARTER & GROWER

Age: Day 7 – Week 7

Feed: Starter & Grower Meal

• Feed piglets from day 7

• Place feed on flat trays away from the sow’s feeding area

• Start with small quantities and increase gradually

Daily intake: 0.5 – 1 kg per piglet

• At week 7, gradually mix with Sow & Weaner Meal for smooth transition

Stage 2: SOW & WEANER

Age: 8 weeks – Early growth

Feed: Sow & Weaner Meal

• Fortified with essential amino acids and nutrients

• Supports early weight gain and overall health

Feeding Guidelines:

• Weaners: start at 1 kg, increase gradually to 2.5 kg

• Sows and gilts (maintenance): 2.5 – 3 kg per day

• Pregnant sows: up to 3.5 kg per day

• Lactating sows: 2.5 kg + 0.25 kg per piglet

Stage 3: FINISHING

Weight: From 60 kg to market weight

Feed: Pig Finishing Meal

• Feed up to 3 kg per pig per day

• Supports rapid growth and efficient finishing

• Avoid excessive fat deposition

For best performance:

Use fresh feed stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Avoid overfeeding. Excess feed negatively affects reproductive performance.

Management Guidelines

Breeding & Reproduction

Sow Selection

Select sows with good mothering ability. Gilts reach sexual maturity at 8 months. Sows cycle every 21 days - detect heat for successful breeding.

Housing Requirements

Provide dry bedding, proper ventilation, and access to feed and water. Dry concrete floors prevent injuries and maintain hygiene.

{{brizy_dc_image_alt imageSrc=
Breeding Nutrition

Feed gilts/sows 2.5-3kg for body maintenance. Pregnant sows: 3.5kg/day. Lactating sows: 2.5kg + 0.25kg per piglet. Avoid overfeeding.

{{brizy_dc_image_alt imageSrc=
Stocking Density

Maintain proper stocking density to ensure animal welfare and optimal performance. Overcrowding reduces growth and health.

Farrowing & Piglet Care

{{brizy_dc_image_alt imageSrc=
Farrowing Preparation

Move pregnant sows to clean farrowing pens one week before farrowing. Prepare creep area to prevent piglets from being crushed.

{{brizy_dc_image_alt imageSrc=
Colostrum Feeding

Feed colostrum immediately after birth. Contains antibodies for immunity. Assist weaker piglets to teat to ensure colostrum intake.

{{brizy_dc_image_alt imageSrc=
Warmth for Piglets

Keep piglets warm during first 10 days - sensitive to cold. Provide warmth through artificial lighting and adequate bedding.

{{brizy_dc_image_alt imageSrc=
Piglet Health Procedures

Day 0: Disinfect navel with iodine. Day 3: Iron injection for anemia prevention. Week 3: Castrate non-breeding males. Clip teeth early.

Growing Phase Management

{{brizy_dc_image_alt imageSrc=
Weaning Management

Start creep feeding from day 7. Feed on flat trays away from sow. Gradually transition to Sow & Weaner meal at week 7.

{{brizy_dc_image_alt imageSrc=
Mixing Guidelines

Don't mix piglets from different sows. If necessary, group same size pigs and spray with distinct smell to prevent fighting.

{{brizy_dc_image_alt imageSrc=
Growth Targets

Pigs must grow as fast as possible without becoming too fat. Adequate feed intake of quality rations is critical during this phase.

{{brizy_dc_image_alt imageSrc=
Water Supply

Fresh, clean water available at all times. Water is essential nutrient - critical for growth, health, and feed digestion.

Health & Records

{{brizy_dc_image_alt imageSrc=
Parasite Control

De-worm regularly to protect from internal parasites. Essential throughout all growth phases for optimal health and performance.

Record Keeping

Track sow records: service dates, farrowing, litter size, mortality rates. Piglet records: ID, weights, health. Essential for breeding decisions.
